A while ago, the Record Planet logo received an update, but implementing only the new logo wasn’t enough to create a cohesive brand update. With such a rich history, they needed an expanded, versatile, visual brand with a strong personality to resonate with new and existing audiences alike.
Our approach was to focus on designing a fresh but lasting design system that could translate seamlessly across the whole brand—socials, website, print, and physical applications. The aim was to take a level-headed approach, simplifying and adding structure while adding a visual energy to reflect vinyl culture and Record Planet’s legacy.
The project felt like a natural collaboration with Stephan and Elisabeth (the incredible duo behind Record Planet). They have pulled together an enthusiastic and talented team over the years—one we are very happy to join.
Running such a large community and hosting regular large events is no small feat, so we opted to optimise processes wherever possible—from templated social posts and email newsletters to automated website functions. Every time-saving tweak makes a difference.
The website is designed and developed with a modular approach so we can add new functions in the future as needed. We prioritised accessibility, ensuring the experience is user-friendly for a diverse audience and helps to guide them to their desired information.
We rolled out the rebrand in stages, releasing the updated socials, signage, and printed material, followed by the website. The results were music to our ears—literally. Record Planet reported their highest-ever visitor numbers before the weekend even ended! Both attendees and vinyl dealers shared glowing feedback about the fresh look and improved website experience.
For those unfamiliar, Record Planet’s Mega Record & CD Fair is held twice a year in Den Bosch and is a must-visit for music lovers and collectors. Beyond the mega events, Record Planet also hosts regional fairs throughout the year in cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Hoorn, and Haarlem, keeping the spirit of music collecting alive across the Netherlands.
With the 60th edition of the Mega Event coming up this April 2025, we hope to see you there! Whether you’re hunting for a rare vinyl or enjoying the atmosphere, it’s an event that promises to be one to remember.
